龍王,汝觀佛身,從百千億福德所生,諸相莊嚴,光明顯曜,蔽諸大眾,設無量億自在梵王,悉不復現,
Oh Dragon King, when you behold the body of the Buddha born from a hundred thousand of Kotis of merit, with all the marks adorned, the splendor of its radiance covering the whole of the great assembly, even if there were immeasurable Kotis of Ishvara and Brahma devas they all would not come again into appearance.
其有瞻仰如來身者,豈不目眩。汝又觀此諸大菩薩,妙色嚴凈,一切皆由修習善業福德而生。又諸天龍八部眾等大威勢者,亦因善業福德所生。Those who look with reverence at the Tathágata's body how can they but not be dazzled. You again behold all these great Bodhisattvas of marvelous appearance, dignified and pure. All this comes into being entirely through the merit of cultivating wholesome actions. Again all the powerful ones like the eight classes of devas and dragons, and suchlike they also come into being because of the merits of wholesome actions.
今大海中所有眾生,形色麤鄙,或大或小,皆由自心種種想念,作身語意諸不善業,是故隨業,各自受報。Now all beings in the great ocean are of course and mean shapes and appearances, they all whether small or large performed unwholesome bodily, verbal, and mental actions out of all kinds of thoughts from their own minds. Thus is that each being receives its own result according to its action.
汝今常應如是修學,亦令眾生了達因果,修習善業。You ought to practice and to study constantly in this way, and also to bring beings to a thorough understanding of cause and effect and to the practice of wholesome actions.

有句老話叫相由心生,佛菩薩還有天人的相貌都是很莊嚴的,因為他們曾經修持過這方面的善因,例如佛的三十二相、八十種隨行好當中,祂的聲音特別洪亮迷人,因為祂前生愛講誠實、贊美的話,并遠離惡語。佛陀的皮膚特別細潤,因為祂以前經常布施清凈的房舍、衣物、器具等,并遠離惡人。佛陀經常能得到上味的飲食,在經典中喂馬的麥子到了釋迦牟尼佛口中,都會變成人間美食,因為祂過去常視眾生如自己的獨子,并以善法回向菩提。佛經過狹小的門時,門自然會變大,因為祂過去生經常修橋補路,不會因為錢財原因逼迫別人。
There is an old saying that one's appearance is a reflection of one's mind. Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and devas all have a very graceful look because they had cultivated the corresponding wholesome causes in the past. For example, all Buddhas have thirty-two extraordinary looks and eighty subtle forms. Among these features, a Buddha's voice is both resonant and charming because he had always spoken with honesty, praise, and no hostility in the past. A Buddha's skin is very smooth because he had always stayed away from evildoers, and had frequently given away tranquil residence, clothes, and household utensils for alms giving in the past. Any food that was served for a Buddha will become fine food when it reaches a Buddha's mouth; as recorded in Buddhist scriptures, grains used to feed horses became delicacy when they were served by Buddha Sakyamuni. It is because Buddhas in the past had always treated sentient beings as their only son, and had always dedicated the merits of virtuous dharma to Bodhi. Whenever Buddhas went through a narrow door it would become larger naturally because Buddhas in the past had repaired roads and bridges all the times and had never persecuted others for money.
菩薩的因緣也非常殊勝的,例如文殊菩薩,祂把珠寶放在城門人來人往的地方,結果三天后居然原封不動,因為祂過去生都沒有盜竊過別人的東西。由此可見,因果是真實不虛的,我們所遭遇的人和事早已種下前因,所以大家不要對命運抱怨,并要多種善因。
As for Bodhisattvas, they had their fabulous karma too. For example Bodhisattva Manjusri had put his jewels under the city gate where many people would pass by, but the jewels remained intact after 3 days because he had never stolen anyone's belongings in his past lives. All these tell us that karma is so real, and everything that we encounter is associated with a cause of the past. Therefore we shouldn't be complaining of our fate, and we should create more good causes instead.

1. 在六道輪回當中者是尚未解脫:
二善道: 人、天
三惡道: 畜生、餓鬼、地獄阿修羅 (介乎善惡之間)
Those in the 6 paths of Samsara (cyclic rebirth) are not yet liberated:
wholesome paths: human being, deva;
evil paths: animal, hungry ghost, hell;
asura is between the 2 types.
2. 阿羅漢、辟支佛、菩薩已經能出離六道輪回。
Arhat, Pratyekabuddha, Bodhisattva can quit Samara and thus liberate.
3. 佛法學習的次第順序是:人、天、小乘(阿羅漢/辟支佛)、
大乘(菩薩),
最終成佛。
而大乘佛法是包含人、天、及小乘佛法的。
The hierarchy of Buddhism practice starts from:
human being;
deva;
Hinayana (Arhat, Pratyekabuddha); and then to
Mahayana(Bodhisattva), finally becoming a Buddha. Human being, deva and Hinayana are included under Mahayana.
4. 每一類的主因是:
六波羅蜜 (菩薩)
十二因緣 (辟支佛)
四圣諦、八正道 (阿羅漢)
十善道, 四禪八定(天)
三皈五戒(人)
十善道但嗔恨 (阿修羅)
愚癡 (畜生)
貪婪(餓鬼)
嗔恨(地獄)
The main causes of each class:
six paramitas (Bodhisattva);
dependent origination (Pratyekabuddha);
four noble truths and eigthfold paths (Arhat);
ten good deeds, meditation (deva);
refuge in the three jewels, five precepts (human being);
good deeds but hatred (asura);
stupidity(animal);
greed (hungry ghost);
hatred (hell)
